How to Give a Client Portal Access in Bit CRM

Estimated reading: 2 minutes 58 views

This guide shows you how to grant a client access to their own Bit CRM portal.

Before you start

  • The contact’s Email field must be correct — this becomes their login.
  • Email sending must be configured under Settings → SMTP Settings, so the invite can be delivered.

Method 1: While creating a new contact

1. Start a new contact

Go to Contacts → Create Contact.

2. Turn on Client Portal

Fill in the contact’s details, then switch on Client Portal in the panel on the right.

3. Click Create

Portal access is granted as soon as the contact is created.

Method 2: On an existing contact

1. Open the contact

Go to Contacts, then click the contact you want to invite.

2. Turn on Client Portal Access

At the top right of the contact page, switch Client Portal Access to on.

That’s it — no save button needed. The toggle takes effect immediately.

What happens next

Bit CRM creates the portal account and emails the client a “Your Client Portal is Ready” message, containing:

  • Their email (login username)
  • A temporary password
  • An Access your portal button
"Client Portal Access Created" email from Bit CRM titled "Your Client Portal is Ready," containing the login email, a temporary password, and an "Access your portal" link.

The email may take a minute to arrive — it sends in the background.

Result

Your client can now sign in and view the deals, invoices, meetings, calls, and notes you’ve shared with them — based on your portal permissions.

Turn access off

To revoke access, open the contact and switch Client Portal Access back off.
